Meet Bryan Smith

Bryan Smith is the founder of Tuned Consulting, a marketing consultancy built for one job: helping manufacturers, logistics companies, and other complex B2B organizations turn marketing into a real driver of revenue, not a side project or a source of vanity metrics.

CEOs come to Bryan with a familiar frustration. They've invested in a new website, an agency retainer, or a social media push, and the activity reports look fine, but the phone isn't ringing any more than it used to. Bryan's approach starts by fixing the foundation most of these efforts skipped: a clear, honest answer to who you serve, what you actually solve for them, and why they should believe you over the next option. The website, the content, and the campaigns all get easier once that's in place.

Bryan calls his approach "Trilingual Marketing." After 20+ years working inside sales, product, and marketing functions, he's fluent in how each team thinks, what they need from the others, and where they typically talk past each other. Rather than marketing operating as its own island, Bryan builds strategy with sales and product in the room from the start, so the resulting plan has the buy-in to actually get executed, not just admired in a deck.

Before founding Tuned Consulting, Bryan spent nearly a decade at Tennant Company, a global manufacturer of commercial cleaning equipment and robotics, rising from Marketing Manager to Head of Marketing for the $600M North American business unit. He led a team of up to 12 across multiple sales channels, verticals, and categories, delivering ten consecutive quarters of profitable growth and a demand generation program that produced over 20,000 qualified leads a year worth $40-60M in attributable sales. He later moved into a global strategy role, leading advanced product innovation and voice-of-customer research and building a new multi-generational product planning process adopted across Tennant's global business units.

Earlier, at Thomson Reuters, Bryan built the integrated marketing and channel strategy for a newly acquired litigation software business, working with a sales force of over 1,000 professionals and driving 30% growth in the first year.

Bryan holds an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and a BA in Political Science, also from the University of Minnesota.

Today, Bryan works directly with CEOs and revenue leaders as a fractional CMO and project consultant, taking on the strategic marketing leadership role many growing companies aren't ready to hire full-time. Engagements range from a single strategic project to ongoing fractional marketing leadership.

Bryan's leadership extends beyond the marketing function. He previously served as an elected member of the City Council in Maplewood, Minnesota. That experience sharpened his ability to build consensus among stakeholders with competing priorities and to communicate clearly to audiences with little patience for spin.

Outside of client work, Bryan restores classic Jaguars, teaches alpine skiing, and performs in community theater. All three reward patience, precision, and a willingness to get your hands dirty.
